Overview

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) launched the Michigan $15 Million Equitable Mobility Challenge to address mobility gaps and improve quality of life while increasing equity and accessibility across the state. Under the Specialized Services Expansion program, additional funding allotted in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget is deployed to expand specialized transit services in underserved areas of the state and increase reimbursement rates for existing Specialized Services Program recipients.

Eligible projects must focus on expanding services that improve access to education, employment, healthcare, nutritious food, and socialization opportunities, with a dedicated focus on serving senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.

Applicants must submit proposals under this call for proposals and explicitly identify which program they are applying for (Specialized Services Program Expansion or Solving Mobility Gaps). MDOT and OFME reserve the right to move awarded projects into a different program track if deemed appropriate.
