Overview
Applicants must have or be a participant in the administration of an existing, currently active, locally-administered façade improvement program for privately owned buildings.
Properties must be located in or contributing to a traditional downtown, central business district, neighborhood commercial node, or adjacent walkable neighborhood. Projects must fit the requirements of the local and currently active façade improvement program. Eligible costs include alteration, new construction, improvement, demolition, or rehabilitation of buildings.
Grants are awarded through a competitive application process. Subgrant applications are accepted for coordinated façade program implementation requests. Applications are evaluated on expansion of existing programs, connection to local plans, historic preservation consideration, design assistance, sustainable materials, and an identified pipeline of façade projects.
