Overview

The Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) Program is an incentive program that proactively deploys state funding to address community revitalization needs in Michigan communities. The Façade Program Implementation component provides access to gap financing for economic development organizations and other public entities to invest in private building facades through an existing and active local façade improvement program.

Eligible applicants include economic development organizations and municipal entities working to improve the vibrancy in traditional downtowns and neighborhood commercial nodes. Applicants must have or be a participant in the administration of an existing, currently active, locally-administered façade improvement program for privately owned buildings. Projects must be located in or contributing to a traditional downtown, central business district, neighborhood commercial node, or adjacent walkable neighborhood.

Applications are accepted as part of a competitive funding round. The application window was anticipated to be November 2024 through January 2025. Awards are disbursed as performance-based reimbursement grants.
