Land and Water Conservation Fund - Development Grants

The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides matching grants to states and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities. Applicants must have a DNR-approved community five-year recreation plan to be eligible, which must be submitted on or before February 1 of the application year. Eligible projects include the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities, evaluated using established criteria and alignment with Michigan's 2023-2027 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). The application process involves submittal of a grant application in MiGrants, evaluation by DNR staff, recommendation by the DNR to the National Park Service (NPS), and final approval of the project by the NPS.
