DTE Energy Foundation Tree Planting Grants

The DTE Energy Foundation Tree Planting Grants program aims to increase the number of properly planted, established, and maintained trees within the service territory of DTE Energy. Eligible projects include tree planting initiatives such as parks, rights-of-way, city streets, nature study areas, school grounds planting, and neighborhood revitalization projects. All trees must be planted on public land or land open to the public. The opportunity is open to local units of government, schools, and nonprofit organizations located within the service territory of DTE Energy and its subsidiaries, DTE Electric and DTE Gas. Applications are announced annually in the summer through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry Program and submitted to the Forest Resources Division. Applications are reviewed collaboratively by DNR, DTE Energy Foundation, and ReLeaf Michigan staff, who approve, adjust, or deny proposals. Applicants are subsequently notified and grant agreements are signed, with awards announced in the fall and projects completed by the following September.
