Overview
Eligible applicants include local units of government, schools, and nonprofit organizations operating within the service territory of DTE Energy and its subsidiaries, DTE Electric and DTE Gas.
Funding supports tree planting projects on public land or land open to the public, including municipal parks, rights-of-way, city streets, nature study areas, school grounds, and neighborhood revitalization projects.
Grant applications are announced annually in the summer and submitted to the Michigan DNR Forest Resources Division. Applications are reviewed by DNR, DTE, and ReLeaf Michigan staff and are approved, adjusted, or denied. Awardees are notified and execute grant agreements. Awards are typically announced in the fall, and projects must be completed by the following September.
