Water Infrastructure Funding & Financing Section Grants Unit

Overview

The Substantial Public Health Risk Program (SPHRP) provides funding for projects that address substantial public health risks from wastewater treatment system failure and to protect public and environmental health by removing direct and continuous discharges of wastewater from surface or ground water.

Eligible applicants generally include counties, cities, villages, townships, authorities, and other public entities capable of implementing water infrastructure projects.

The program is currently listed as an inactive opportunity by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and is no longer accepting applications. EGLE staff continues to work with communities that have been awarded funding.
