Safe Routes to Schools Mini Grant

The Safe Routes to School Mini Grant program is designed to make quick gains in communities by inspiring change to the transportation culture around schools and neighborhoods. The program encourages and educates students on traveling safely to and from school in healthy ways, increasing the number of students walking, biking, and rolling to school, and sparking broader active transportation improvements focused on safety and physical activity. Eligible applicants include schools serving students in grades K-12 and affiliated nonprofit organizations. Grant funds must support active transportation programs to and from school, and at least $7,500 per school must be allocated for a Program Coordinator and/or personnel work. The application process is competitive under a Request for Proposals (RFP) with limited funding, and award notifications are typically announced in June.
