Overview

The Materials Management Planning Grant provides funding to counties for the development, implementation, and maintenance of new Materials Management Plans (MMP) required per Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended. The goal of the program is to guide the management of counties' materials with an emphasis on increasing sustainable practices, such as recycling and composting, in addition to ensuring safe disposal options. Eligible applicants are counties in Michigan, which may apply either as a single county or by collaborating with other counties. To apply, counties must submit a work program approved by their Materials Management Planning Committee (MMPC). The application process includes submitting the MMP Grant Application, an MMP Work Program Submittal Survey, an MMP Work Program Template, and an Approved Budget Form with a narrative.
