Community Museum Grant Program

Purpose: The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) sought proposals to support museums and nonprofit foundations across Michigan that operate educational programs fostering artistic, scientific, technological, or cultural exhibitions. The program funds projects that help institutions stabilize, grow, or thrive in their educational and programmatic missions. Eligibility: Open to museums and nonprofit foundations in Michigan, plus municipal, county, city, township, village, and Tribal entities. Priority consideration is given to applicants that demonstrate the ability to leverage grant funds with additional federal or private funding. Project eligibility: Proposals could address one or more focus areas: Stabilize (address immediate administrative, programmatic, or infrastructure needs), Grow (expand mission impact and programmatic reach to build capacity and sustainability), and Thrive (implement long-term strategic initiatives to achieve visionary goals). Application process: Applicants were required to submit through the LEO EGrAMS system (select program CMG-2025) by 01/30/2025 at 3:00 p.m. A pre-application webinar was held 12/12/2024, questions were due 12/17/2024 to leo-grants@michigan.gov, and weekly office hours were offered during the application window.
