Overview

Goal/purpose: The Capacity Building grant program assists health-focused, community-based organizations in becoming stronger, more effective institutions within their community, allowing them to spend more time and energy focused on their missions. Grants also support collaborative efforts among providers, service agencies, and community-based organizations to cooperatively and sustainably address health issues.

Additional applicant eligibility criteria: Organizations must be health-focused nonprofits in Michigan that support children and older adults, or that are aligned with the Health Fund's priority areas. Cycle 1 (December-February) is restricted to current Health Fund grantees only. Cycle 2 (Spring-July) accepts submissions from all eligible organizations.

Project eligibility: Funding supports both organizational and collaborative capacity building projects. Concept papers are required for both rounds.

Application process: Applications are accepted in two cycles. Cycle 1 opens in December and is due in February. Cycle 2 launches with a public RFP in spring and applications are due in July. Concept papers are required.
