Overview

The Public Spaces Community Places (PSCP) program is a grant match program that utilizes donation-based crowdfunding to generate public interest and funding to revitalize or create public spaces. The goal is to engage the public in achieving place-based improvements and instill community pride. Eligible applicants include municipalities, L3Cs, and tax-exempt nonprofit entities. Nonprofits must have an up-to-date Charitable Solicitation License. Projects must focus on the activation of public spaces creating community places, such as streetscape beautification, public plazas, park enhancements, and community theater rehabilitation. Projects must demonstrate the activation of a new or distressed public space or community place, or increase universal accessibility for existing spaces. The application process begins by building a basic project profile on the Patronicity website. Patronicity performs an initial screening, followed by an MEDC/MML review. If approved, the project launches a crowdfunding campaign. If the campaign hits its target within 60 days, the MEDC provides the matching grant funds.
