Overview

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Specialty Crop Block Grant (SCBG) Program awards funds to projects to enhance the competitiveness of Michigan specialty crops, which include fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture). Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, local, state, and federal government entities, including tribal governments. Eligible plants must be cultivated or managed and used by people for food, medicinal purposes, and/or aesthetic gratification to be considered specialty crops. Processed products shall consist of greater than 50% of the specialty crop by weight, exclusive of added water. All applications must be submitted on the new MiAgGrants site under a Citizen or Business Account.
