Overview

The Horticulture Fund Grant supports projects that benefit Michigan's nursery and ornamental horticulture sectors by addressing industry priorities. The fund's mission is to safeguard plants and plant products from unwanted plant pests through research, training, and outreach.

Proposals must fall under one of three categories: Applied Research, Basic Research, or Outreach/Training/Demonstration. Greater priority is given to Applied Research proposals. Projects must deliver clearly defined results within a realistic time frame, with multiyear projects limited to three years.

Eligible applicants include faculty and staff members of universities and colleges in Michigan. While teams may include private individuals, the Principal Investigator must be university or college personnel. Proposals are reviewed by a Horticulture Fund Advisory Committee based on criteria including scientific soundness, leverage of funds, partnering with industry, and potential impact.
