Overview
Eligible applicants include all faculty and staff members of universities and colleges in Michigan, as well as teams of university/college investigators and private individuals. However, university or college personnel must serve as the Principal Investigator of the proposal.
Projects must fall under one of three categories: Applied Research, Basic Research, or Outreach/Training/Demonstration. Proposals must benefit Michigan's nursery and ornamental horticulture sectors by addressing industry priorities. Projects should complement ongoing programs or assist in exploring new ventures, delivering clearly defined results within a realistic time frame.
Applications must be submitted by the specified deadline through MDARD's Grants and Funding Opportunities website, and MSU proposals must be fully routed through the MSU KC system by the sponsor deadline. Proposals are reviewed and ranked by a Horticulture Fund Advisory Committee based on criteria such as relationship to mission, scientific soundness, leverage of funds, partnering, and potential impact.
