Food Safety Education Fund Grants

The Food Safety Education Fund Grants program, established under the Michigan Food Law of 2000, aims to fund training and education initiatives. The specific goals are to provide food safety training and education to consumers, as well as to food service establishment employees and agents of the director who enforce the act. The program seeks to improve food safety through measurable outcomes and partnerships.

Eligible applicants are limited to Michigan governmental and non-profit organizations and entities. Producers, marketers, processors, and growers are not eligible to apply. Proposals should not include funding for required routine training such as HACCP or manager certification like ServSafe. Multi-year proposals will be considered on an individual basis, contingent on future funding.

To apply, completed proposals must be submitted electronically to MDARD-FSEF@michigan.gov by 3 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025. Hard copy submissions are also accepted if postmarked by Thursday, June 12, 2025. Electronic submission is encouraged and will be confirmed via email.
