Maritime and Port Facility Assistance Office

Overview

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has established the Maritime and Port Facility Assistance Office and created the Michigan Maritime & Port Facility Assistance Grant Program following the passage of Senate Bill 744 and House Bill 5291. This program aims to build upon existing partnerships with the state's maritime industry and help support critical maritime assets.

Marine transportation is an essential component of Michigan's freight transportation system. The program is designed to assist in the development of commercial marine facilities and services, and provide capital or operating assistance to selected marine services. The maritime system is a partnership between the public and private sectors, involving publicly and privately owned marine facilities.

To apply, interested parties should utilize the Michigan Maritime and Port Facility Assistance Grant Program application available via the MDOT website.
