Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) - Category B - Villages and Small Cities

The Community Service Infrastructure Fund (CSIF), commonly known as the Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) Category B, was established as a stopgap measure to provide additional road funding to the smallest communities in Michigan, particularly those facing constrained financial capacity to fund roadway projects. The program's goal is to improve local road infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and support economic vitality in small municipalities across the state.

Eligibility is restricted to small cities and villages within Michigan. Consideration and priority are directed toward communities that have limited alternative options for raising local transportation funds.

Eligible projects focus on immediate local street and highway needs, including road rehabilitation, reconstruction, and preventative maintenance that improve community mobility and road condition.

The grant application process was formerly administered through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Economic Development. Following the full commitment and award of the 2023 supplemental appropriation in October 2025, the program has concluded and applications are no longer being accepted.
