Overview

The Fisheries Habitat Grant Program provides funding to benefit fisheries, aquatic resources, and the public through projects such as fish habitat conservation, dam removal and repair, and access to recreation.

Eligible applicants include local, state, federal, or tribal units of government, academic institutions, and non-profit groups. Competitive projects will address causes of habitat degradation, provide long-lasting benefits, address needs on the priority habitat projects list, be cost-effective, use appropriate methods, monitor project outcomes, and address health and human safety for dam management.

The application process requires consultation with DNR staff, submittal of a pre-proposal, and, upon invitation, submittal of a full grant application via the MiGrants system. A minimum match of 10% is required.
