Overview
Eligible applicants include local units of government and nonprofit, incorporated snowmobile clubs and organizations. A key requirement for equipment replacement grants is that the applicant must be a current trail sponsor. Trail sponsors are assigned trails by the Department of Natural Resources and must be able to obtain trail rights-of-way open to public snowmobiling.
Grant applications and information are typically made available in late spring, with applications due to the Department in the summer. The Department reviews applications and selects projects, with grant agreements issued in October for the upcoming snowmobile season. The grant period covers the fiscal year from October 1 through September 30.
