Overview

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is offering grants to establish new permanent electronics collection sites. The goal of this specific grant category is to provide ongoing access to electronics recycling in underserved areas and transition from collection events to permanent operations.

Eligible projects must involve the establishment of a new permanent collection site that is open to the public a minimum of 24 hours per month. Applicants must commit to operating the location for at least two years after the grant ends. A Registered Michigan Electronics Recycler must be used for these operations. Funding can be used to offset the cost of building or purchasing a storage building, setting up a mobile collection system, purchasing operations equipment, supplies, and recycling costs for televisions, monitors, and printers. Reimbursement for transportation charges is limited to 50%. Staffing costs are not eligible. Priority will be given to applicants in underserved areas of the state and Communities with Environmental Justice (EJ) Concerns.

To apply, applicants must submit a complete response addressing program objectives, priorities, and tasks using the provided format. Required information includes a Grant Application Cover Sheet, Completed Budget Form, Detailed Timeline, Applicant Organizational Chart, and other supporting documents such as letters of support and NEPA forms. Proposals must be submitted by email to the Recycling Unit.
