Overview

The Rural Electronics Recycling Grants - Grants to Hold Collection Events program aims to provide ongoing access to electronics recycling in underserved areas. Priority is given to applicants in underserved areas of the state and Communities with Environmental Justice (EJ) Concerns.

Eligible applicants include local units of government (cities, villages, townships, counties), tribal governments, authorities, conservation districts, non-profits, school districts, health departments, regional planning agencies, and privately owned recycling businesses in Michigan. Applicants must use a Registered Michigan Electronics Recycler.

Projects under this specific category must commit to holding a minimum of two events per grant. Funding is limited to a maximum of $15,000 and can be used to offset the cost of recycling televisions, monitors, and printers, and cover up to 50% of transportation charges from registered recyclers. Reimbursement is limited to 30 cents per pound for televisions and monitors, and up to 20 cents per pound for printers. Staffing costs are not eligible.

To apply, applicants must submit a complete response addressing the Program Objectives, Priorities, and Applicant Tasks using the format and attachments provided in the RFP (including Proposal Worksheet, Budget Form, Timeline, and Organizational Charts) by the deadline.
