Overview

The Recycling Quality Improvement Grant Program is a collaborative effort between the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and The Recycling Partnership. The goal of the program is to grow recycling and improve materials management in Michigan by drastically improving the capture of high-quality recyclables and reducing recycling contamination.

Eligible applicants include local communities, materials recovery facilities, haulers, and resource and solid waste management authorities. Projects should focus on developing and implementing operational and educational strategies to dramatically improve the quality of recycling, such as utilizing the 'Feet on the Street' cart-tagging recycling education program or similar drop-off site interventions.

RFPs are announced with a deadline for application. Grant applications are selected for funding based on program priorities, criteria, and eligibility. Interested applicants should visit Michigan.gov/MIRecycles and select the 'Grants' tab for current RFPs and application details.
