Scrap Tire Market Development Grant

The Scrap Tire Market Development Grant, administered by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), provides funding to promote the reuse and recycling of scrap tires in Michigan. The program prioritizes projects that demonstrate new or increased uses for scrap tires in manufactured products, paving projects, and civil engineering applications over their use as tire-derived fuel.

Eligible projects include the cost to purchase scrap tires (reimbursed up to $133.00 per ton), the cost of purchasing equipment to support market development, and research and development activities. Projects must be conducted in Michigan and adhere to state permit requirements. Any organization physically located in Michigan is eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a complete proposal including a budget and work plan by the deadline.
