Overview

The Clean Fuel and Charging Infrastructure Program aims to support clean fuel and charging infrastructure projects, including the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and hydrogen fueling infrastructure. In this initial Request for Proposals, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is providing funding specifically for the deployment of non-publicly available Level 2 alternating current (AC) EV charging stations at existing multifamily housing properties and new multifamily developments.

Any organization is able to apply for this funding. Eligible projects must focus on Level 2 AC EV charging stations at multifamily housing properties that are occupied and have long-range plans for continued use. Applicants must provide a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number from the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) website. Additionally, applicants must engage with their electric utility provider to obtain a 'Will Serve Letter' to be considered for funding.

EGLE will accept and process applications on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted. The application process involves verifying that the project site meets program priorities, engaging with the electric utility provider for a site assessment, determining applicable building/electrical codes and zoning, securing quotes from EV charger hardware/software and installation providers, and submitting an online application along with required documentation.
